Similar to our ‘Abhyanga’ marma-point massage, but with the inclusion of herbal steam at the end of your treatment.
If you're suffering from routine daily stresses, muscle aches and pains, lethargy or stagnation, then this is the perfect treat to release those pent up energies, and reinvigorate your body.
Marma-point massage focuses on unblocking marma points - our vital energy points that are located throughout the body, similar in concept to acupuncture points.
The primary aim of this massage is to promote the flow of energy in your body, flushing out toxins that accumulate due to the stress of everyday living, improper diet, negative emotions which can drain us both physically and mentally. This helps to optimise the function of various bodily systems.
Your experienced therapist will use warm medicated oil and specific strokes relevant to your body's constitution and any specific concerns you have.
This is then followed by a herbalised steam to open up blocked channels within your body in order to release energy.
An Ayurvedic steam box does not include the head to prevent excessive heat build-up and so as not to disrupt prana. In Ayurveda, excessive heating of the head is known to be detrimental to your brain as, well as the other sensitive areas such as your face and eyes.
Ayurveda recognises the concept of "prana," which refers to the vital life force energy. There are important energy channels, or nadis, in the head region and so the exclusion of the head from the steam chamber helps maintain the natural flow of prana in this area, as excessive heat could potentially disturb this energy balance.
Benefits of Marma Point massage:

• Nourishes whole body and stimulates internal organs
• Improves sleep and promotes relaxation
• Eliminates impurities from the body
• Helps to improve complexion and life span
The addition of steam (also known as Swedana or Swedanam) is especially important in colder temperatures, helping to further your progress:
Improves muscle relaxation and release: The steam chamber creates a warm and moist environment, which helps relax the muscles and soft tissues of the body. The heat from the steam promotes vasodilation and increases blood flow, leading to improved circulation and the release of muscle tension.
Promote detoxification: Steam therapy promotes sweating, which is a natural process of detoxification. As the body perspires, it helps eliminate toxins, impurities, and metabolic waste through the skin. This detoxifying effect can leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and cleansed.
Enhanced Absorption of Oils and Herbs: Ayurvedic massages often involve the application of therapeutic oils or herbal preparations on the body. The steam chamber aids in the absorption of these oils and herbs, allowing their beneficial properties to penetrate deeply into the tissues. This can enhance the effectiveness of the massage and maximize the therapeutic benefits.
Improve Skin Health and Hydration: The steam and moisture in the chamber promote hydration and nourishment of the skin. It helps open up the pores, allowing for the removal of impurities and dead skin cells. This can result in improved skin tone, texture, and a healthy glow.
Stress Reduction and Relaxation: The combination of the massage and the steam chamber creates a deeply relaxing experience. It helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote a sense of tranquility. The warmth and comforting environment of the steam chamber can induce a state of deep relaxation, allowing you to let go of tension and unwind.
